Our three dimensional web of fascia is tough connective tissue that goes throughout the body from head to toe without interruption. It both covers and penetrates through our muscles, nerves, bones, blood vessels, internal organs and central nervous system down to a cellular level. Our fascia connects each part of our bodies to every other part.
Restrictions in the fascia can put incredible pressures on the underlying structures causing pain, decreased movement and can hamper our ability to cope with strain and stress. Normally, our fascia is relaxed, glides and is wavy in configuration. The fascia can become tight and restricted by trauma, inflammation ,poor posture, or scarring from repetitive use. These restrictions do not show up in traditional tests such as x -rays, MRI's, CAT scans, myelograms, electromyography, ect.
